Memorial Day weekend

We headed home for Memorial Day weekend to visit with the grandparents. We were also excited to see Katy, Kit and Finley who were home for the weekend. While both Owen and Finley still "parallel play", there were several moments when they would acknowledge each other's presence... here's one of our favorites.

Now that both Owen and Finley are running around, they grow bored of the toys that Grammy and Papa Ranere have accumulated in the house (and believe us, there are many). Luckily, our favorite playground growing up is only a 2 minute drive away... so, in 3 days, we made 3 trips to this park... one was before 8am!

We grew up loving this spot because it had 2 of the coolest slides around... back then, they seemed like they were 200 feet tall. Though they seem much shorter today, Owen and Dad had a blast.

There was another slide that Owen loved playing on with Grandma Kate and Papa.

But Owen wasn't the only one who had fun at the park... check out Mom and Dad's faces...

Aside from the big slide, Owen discovered one of Mom's other favorite things about this park... the ice cream truck that sits faithfully by the entrance. Always a sucker, Papa bought Owen a "Sponge Bob Square Pants" popsicle... and he was in heaven.

As you can see, Sponge Bob ended up all over Owen, so after a quick change into the spare sweatshirt that Mom clearly keeps at the bottom of the stroller, we were ready to go again...

On Sunday, Papa cooked a fabulous meal, and Grandma Kate, Aunt Kristen, Uncle Steve and Nana all came over.

While Papa's feast was delicious, Owen and Finley's favorite was Nana's bread... the both of them ate 3 pieces each!

While we had a great time, we missed Grandpa John who was visiting with Owen's great grandparents in Florida. But we'll see you soon!
