Swim class

For a while, Jack and I have wanted to take Owen to a swim class. Whenever we have gone to the beach or a pool, Owen seems to love the water, so we thought he'd equally love spending time in the water in a fun swim class.

Well, our first swim class didn't go so well... the class we signed up for was for 2 year olds, and it required that the kids swim alone with the teacher and the parents watch from the pool deck.... since it was age appropriate, we thought this is what he "should" do. But needless to say, Owen hated being in the water with a stranger (and I can't say I'd blame him)... he cried straight through the first 15 minutes, with me and Jack secretly sweating on the sidelines, wondering if we were torturing our child and permanently scarring his aquatic life.

After talking to the teacher at the end of class to see if Owen's reaction was "normal", she apologized... she thought given Owen's age, he had already taken the 12 month class for 1 year olds in which the parents stay with the kids in the water... so the following week, we went to that class, and Owen loved it... and I have to say, even though he was in Jack's arms the whole time, we were proud of him, especially when he dunked!

But his favorite part of the whole morning may have been discovering the shower before and after he was in the pool...

We should have known he'd love that shower! Remember raindrops on the Cape last summer? Miss you all too much!

Finley can't get enough of watching Owen dunk. In fact, it has become our lunchtime ritual, first we watch "birthday Owen" and then we watch "under water Owen" and rewind the parts where he dunks as Finley cheers so excitedly everytime... And then she says, "Finley under water, too?" It's hilarious! Maybe he can teach her some tricks next week in Florida! Can't wait to be with you guys, xoxo Katy
