Trick or treat!

We had a great first Halloween!

The weather was beautiful in New York, and we packed up him in the stroller and spent the afternoon and early evening taking him to various festivities around our neighborhood.
First stop was our front steps where Mom was determined to get a picture of the little guy in his costume... a group of Italian tourists stopped to take a few pictures too, chanting "arogosta!"

Then we walked over to a Kid's Parade in Hippo Park along the river. There were probably 500 kids there, all decked out in cute and clever costumes. Equally impressive were the parents who joined in too... here is a picture of our friend, Pam, dressed as Dorothy. Her daughter, Sasha, was the scarecrow.

Owen was particularly excited about all the balloons at the parade...

After the parade, we made a pit-stop at home for some dinner. Even a lobster has to eat.
Then we headed down to 69th St which was closed off for a neighborhood block party and met up with our friends, Tracie and Josh. We were expecting some intricately carved pumpkins, maybe a few cobwebs over windows, but we had no idea what was in store... one of the brownstone owners had hired 6 professional actor/stuntmen to dress up as Batman, Robin, Catwoman, Spiderman, Riddler and the Joker to scale up and down his 4 story brownstone, reenacting scenes from the movies. Unfortunately, I didn't get any pics of the guys in action, but here's one of the brownstone with the "Bat sign" lit up along with one of Owen and Dad who were mesmerized. Only in Manhattan.

As the night wound down, Owen started sucking on his claws and we knew it was time to put the lobster to bed... hope you all had a great Halloween too!
