Snow days in Belmont

We took a trip home last weekend to spend a few days in Belmont... Grammy was home from Florida, Katy, Kit and Finley were home from Raleigh, Uncle Stevie had a break from work, Nana came over for a visit, Grandma and Grandpa Norris and the entire Hughes family (even little Jack!) met us for dinner, David threw Betsey Hughes a surprise 60th birthday party, and Papa made meatballs. What more could Owen want?

One of the highlights of the trip was Owen's first "Sunday Dinner" in Belmont. We're not sure we've ever seen another 10 month old be so happy to sit at the table with everyone and enjoy his own pasta and meatballs. Sitting there in his high chair with his hands crossed, babbling away at everyone at the table, we're pretty sure he was saying, "mangia, mangia Papa! More meatballs!"

We were hit with 2 snow storms while we were home, and we decided to stay an extra day to avoid driving through the second storm (thankfully, Suey won that coin toss). While it was fun to stay longer, that extra snow day certainly challenged five adults to keep two kids happy!

By the end of the day, we had done this circuit around the house about 100 times: play with family room toys, ride on Jack's shoulders, climb up on Grammy's leather chair, open all the kitchen cabinets and pull out the pots and pans, bang on the dishwasher, grab the glass vase and candlesticks on the living room coffee table, pull on the lamp cord in the dining room, and the grand finale... listen to Grammy play the piano. We didn't capture it all on camera, but here's a few favorite stops along the circuit:

We had a great time at home, though we did miss Aunt Kristen who was down in Florida, relaxing and enjoying the sun for the rest of us! See you in a few weeks!
