Calling in the Veteran Out of the Bullpen

With Suey planning to be out of town for the weekend, Dad did what any other new father would do -- he panicked. It's one thing for Dad to be responsible for O's welfare for short spurts of time. And quite another for it to encompass several consecutive hours.

After regaining his wits, Dad did the second thing any new father would do -- he called for the wily veteran out of the bullpen to get him out of the jam. Bless her heart, Grandma was willing to jump on a bus and navigate Port Authority without a bodyguard. And, unbelievably, do so without compensation.

With Dad off the ledge, the weekend involved lots of time at the playground. After the sun finally reared its head for the first time this month, there was lots of catching up to do. And Grandma was front and center.

Owen made sure he showed Grandma how he does all of his favorite things, including stalking birds.

When it was time to wind it down, Grandma had no problem meeting Owen's cuddling requirements.

Thanks, Grandma! Dad and Owen are eternally grateful.
