Owen goes to school!

After sweating it out in the completely ridiculous Manhattan Pre-School admissions process (we are convinced getting into college was easier), we were very happy that Owen got into Claremont, a school that we loved in our neighborhood. Their 2 year old program is 2 days a week, 2 1/2 hours a day... barely enough time to get there, get settled, have a snack and pack up to go home again! Though it's such a short time, we think Owen will love being around the other kids and learning new things, so we are very happy that he can go.

Claremont offers a 6 week camp for the kids in the summer... since the kids have the same teacher, same classmates and same room for camp that they will in September, we just told Owen he was starting school. Tuesday was his 1st day!

Not wanting to miss a minute of this milestone, both Jack and I took him to school on the 1st day. Here we are outside the classroom...

"First day of school!"

When the kids, parents, nannies and grandparents all arrived at 9am, the teachers let the kids run around and explore the room while the adults squeezed in like idiots trying to capture every moment on film and video... here's a view of the classroom which they call the "Garden Room."
Owen's first stop was the stamp paint table:
His first piece of artwork:

After some arts and crafts, it was time for music...

So far, Owen seems to love school... when we asked him what he did yesterday, the following words came out... "had snacks... play with new friends... singing." Sounds like a good start to us!

OK...I cried! This can't be true...it truly does seem like only two days when Owen's Mommy started school... He and Finley can form their own study group! Has he asked you to buy him a briefcase yet? Hugs from Grammy!

Great to see that there is another artist in the family to match Aunti Mare's artistic accomplishments.

Glad you like school, Owen.

Your Dad and I always did.

Uncle Joe, on the other hand, would have preferred to have spent his days on the tractor.

Love,

Grandpa
