Mother's Day Take Two

I have been dying to rent bikes and go along the Hudson, but since Jack doesn't love bikes, I knew I only had 2 days to make this happen... Mother's Day or my birthday. Since I'll be 7 months pregnant on my birthday this year, that left me one option to plead my case... Mother's Day.

Jack agreed to this plan, so you can imagine that I was quite bummed last Sunday when it was 40 degrees and windy. But somehow, I managed to convince Jack that I needed a "rain check", and this morning was perfectly sunny and 70 degrees, so we headed over to Eddie's Bike shop and rented bikes for the day.

Here we are leaving the shop with Owen on the back of Jack's bike...

First stop along the river was down near the Meatpacking district where there was a great playground that was built on top of a barge on the river:

Then we headed further south to the tip of Manhattan where you can see the Statue of Liberty:

We eventually turned back and headed north, stopping at the Frying Pan, a totally bizarre restaurant on the water that is built on top of two antique tug boats... in the seven years that we have lived here, we had never heard of this place, but it was quite something... Owen was particularly pleased because there was also an old train car on this boat which made his day.

We eventually made our way back to the Upper West Side, and it was a perfect day. Owen loved being on the bike especially yelling at Jack to "go faster, Daddy!", I loved being outside along the water with my boys, and surprisingly, Jack loved it too. Happy Mother's Day to us all :)

I'm so glad you got your bike ride! Looks like the perfect day for such a great adventure. Love the picture of Owen running and laughing--it's just how I think of him. Glad you had another crack at Mother's Day--you certainly deserve it! xoxo

You guys are awesome....good work getting that far around Manhattan! Make sure you take in ALL the sights and sounds of the Big Apple so you can back back here soon. I love the photos of Owsie being carted around by Daddy. Won't be long before he can do the tugging! Miss and love you, Grammy
