July 3rd with Jimmy O

One of Jack's favorite days of the year is July 3rd... Jack always spends this day with Jimmy O at his house on Hummarock Beach in Scituate, catching lobsters, sitting on their back deck, throwing back a few (or many) beers. This was the first year that we spent July 3rd as "parents", taking Owen along for the fun with us.

On the night of the 3rd, the residents of Hummarock Beach turn it into one huge display of fireworks and 20 foot bonfires... each year I go and see this tradition unfold, and I'm always amazed (and happy) that the police and firemen still let this continue!

Here's Owen and Jack in front of one of the bonfires before it gets lit up... it was 20 feet high, and the residents save up old wood, furniture and even Christmas trees to throw into the pile...
