Owen's First Days

This blog is our attempt to capture the activities of Team Norris now that our son Owen has arrived. There's a 90% chance that this is our one and only blog, but we'll see how it goes.

Owen arrived at 12:30pm on April 7th, smack dab in the middle of his due date. Mom was a rock star throughout - enduring a prolonged labor and 1.5 hours of pushing! Dad was left to stare awkwardly at his blackberry not knowing what to do. In the end, Dr. Yale (not a typo) told him he was one of the best leg holders she's ever seen in action.

The Grandparents jumped in their cars at a moment's notice and were on hand to greet the young king with gold, frankincense and hugs. Owen was delighted to make their acquaintence.

We could wax poetically about how great Owen is (really, he is). But we understand that all parents feel that way. We think, though, that the video below demonstrates how truly gifted he is and sums up anything we could write in this blog. On his second day, we started getting a sense for which of us he most resembles...be sure to have the volume up. Suey calls this "Like Father Like Son".

On Wednesday we were ready to venture out on our own. Owen suited himself up and climbed into his carseat trying to prompt us to get moving. Mom and Dad nervously fretted about what life without nurses would entail. Finally, after a pep talk from Owen, we hit the road and climbed into a taxi, bound for our apartment.

Now the real adventure begins! We'll write again soon...we hope...

We are SO happy you've done this....great job, Daddy Jack! Makes being a few hours away a bit more tolerable - and we can show proof to the world that we have the MOST beautiful grandson ever born (not to mention his altogether wonderful parents.) Can't wait for the next installment. Give Owen a big hug and kiss from Grammy and Papa Ranere

Oh my gosh!!!! First of all, could Owen be any cuter?! Secondly, Jack, not to pump your tires anymore than I normally do, Romance Man, but you are almost as funny as I am! Laughed out loud while reading this and I hope you keep it going because it's thoroughly enjoyable for all of us to see--especially for those of us who live too far away to share in this in person with you! Love you guys!!! Welcome to parenthood! Seeing this makes me want to have another one--for about 3 seconds. And then I come to my senses! :) He's so perfect--can't wait to meet him. Congrats!!! Love, Christy
P.S. Loved the video clip. Absolutely classic. Not sure about "Like Father, Like Son", however. I roomed with Suey on golf trips for 3 years. Trust me.

I am totally in love with Baby O! That video is priceless.

Excellent blog, by the way. Definitely keep it up (not to put pressure on you or anything, but do you really want the first thing not done at the A+ level to be your child's blog...what kind of en example would that be...?)

Good thing you can make posts via the blackberry. Jack now has a new excuse for never putting it down... :-)

Love you, Team Norris NYC!
