As I rolled out of bed this morning - prompted by my new alarm clock and his industrial-strength vocal chords - and surveyed the scene, I became alarmed. It looked like the Navy SEALS had held a training session in our living room. What had my darling wife been doing with our precious son?

I'm not sure the picture does it justice so let me provide a quick overview (bear in mind our cleaning lady came yesterday afternoon):
- 3 spent baby bottles
- 1 noisemaker
- various tools including allen wrench and screwdriver
- 10 couch cushions strewn about
- 1 book "What to Expect When You're Expecting"
- 1 container of crushed red pepper
- 1 draft promissory note
- 1 burp cloth, heavily soiled
- 1 camera
- 2 water bottles, both empty
- 1 baby sock
Despite how it looked, however, we made big progress in our second night on our own as parents (albeit, starting from a low base). Our new system worked - both mommy and daddy were able to get some sleep and Owen seemed relatively happy with our performance.
Here is a picture of the reinvigorated parents this morning.
And proof of their success.

Keep it up! Only 18 years more to go.
I have always found allen wrenches very helpful in any situation.
Great blog - keep those photos coming.
