Thinking back

It really is hard to believe it's been a year... Jack and I fell asleep last night recalling some of the many wonderful memories we have from Owen's first year. We will never forget that first few minutes we spent with our newborn son, right after the doctor placed him on my chest... Owen picked his head up a little and stared right up at me and Jack, eyes wide open, filled with such wonder and curiosity. It was the most beautiful moment of our lives, and we will remember it always.

We contrasted those first few minutes with the rest of that first week which was largely a blur and often a chaotic circus (you'll remember Jack's postings that kicked off this blog)... at many points, we really didn't know how we would make it! But then each day passes, you learn something new about your little son and your abilities as parents, and you start to figure it out together... and before you know it, you are watching your one year old son who is smiling at you, saying "Da-da" or "Mmmma" and you wonder how the year could have gone so fast.

Here's a photo from 1 year ago. We are filled with such love for our little son, and we truly feel blessed to have him in our lives. Happy birthday, Owen... we love you so much!
